Who We Are

Wi-Fi Ninjas started because two mates genuinely loved Wi-Fi, technology, and helping people understand it better.

What began as a side project creating podcasts, videos, blogs, and community content quickly grew into something much bigger. Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to build an amazing community around wireless networking, speak at industry events worldwide, teach thousands of students, and work alongside some of the best people in the industry.

These days, Matt works at Ekahau leading Product Marketing and ECSE, while Mac has spent time pursuing opportunities within the property industry before recently being pulled back into the world of Wi-Fi, events, and training again. Somehow, despite life taking us in slightly different directions for a while, our worlds have collided once again.

At the core of Wi-Fi Ninjas, not much has changed.

We still love:

  • Wi-Fi

  • Creating content

  • Podcasts and videos

  • Teaching and sharing knowledge

  • Speaking at events

  • Building cool studio setups

  • Helping people progress in their careers

  • Having a laugh while doing all of the above

This website and podcast are now a mix of all of those worlds combined. Expect Wi-Fi discussions, industry insights, event experiences, studio and content creation ideas, property renovation chaos, tech gadgets, behind-the-scenes stories, and whatever else we find interesting enough to talk about.

The super deep technical Wi-Fi and Ekahau content still lives over on the Ekahau webinars and training platforms, but Wi-Fi Ninjas gives us a place to be a bit more personal, relaxed, creative, and real.

Most importantly, we’re just massively grateful that people still care enough to listen, watch, read, and support what we do after all these years.

Matt Starling

Founder

Matt Starling is a Wi-Fi professional, content creator, speaker, and educator with a passion for making wireless technology easier to understand, deploy, and troubleshoot in the real world.

Known throughout the industry as one half of the Wi-Fi Ninjas, Matt has built a reputation for combining deep technical knowledge with an engaging and down-to-earth style that resonates with engineers, IT teams, and business leaders alike. His work spans enterprise Wi-Fi design, validation, troubleshooting, training, content creation, and product marketing, with a strong focus on practical, real-world outcomes rather than theory alone.

Matt currently works at Ekahau, where he leads Product Marketing and ECSE, helping shape technical education, webinars, product messaging, and industry training programs used by Wi-Fi professionals around the world. He regularly speaks at global wireless events, delivers technical presentations and webinars, and has helped train thousands of engineers through the ECSE certification program.

Away from the Wi-Fi world, Matt is equally passionate about creating high-quality content and studio production, with a love for podcasts, video creation, streaming setups, and building creative spaces that bring technology and storytelling together.

At the heart of everything Matt does is a simple goal: helping people learn, improve, and genuinely enjoy working in Wi-Fi.

Matt's PA

Mac Deryng

Mac is a wireless professional, educator, content creator, and co-founder of the Wi-Fi Ninjas, with a long-standing passion for helping people better understand Wi-Fi and the technology that powers modern connectivity.

Over the years, Mac has delivered hundreds of wireless projects across a wide range of environments, taught numerous ECSE courses, spoken at industry events, and helped create technical content consumed by Wi-Fi professionals around the world. His background spans wireless design, troubleshooting, training, and product marketing, always with a strong focus on practical, real-world experience.

Alongside his time in the Wi-Fi industry, Mac also explored opportunities within the property sector, building relationships and experience outside of tech, before recently finding himself pulled back into the world of wireless, training, events, and content creation once again.

Whether it’s teaching, presenting, recording podcasts, or talking Wi-Fi over a coffee (or beer), Mac brings a relaxed, approachable style that has made him well known throughout the community.

Outside of Wi-Fi, Mac is also a sailing enthusiast, tech lover, and apparently now spends a large portion of his time acting as Matt’s unofficial PA, property consultant, and life organiser.
